Title of Collaborative Activity:

It’s a Noisy Planet. Protect Their Hearing® Public Education campaign

Description of Collaborative Activity:

The National Institute on Deafness and Other Communication Disorders (NIDCD) sponsors It's a Noisy Planet. Protect Their Hearing®, a national public education campaign to increase awareness among parents of children ages 8 to 12 about the causes and prevention of noise-induced hearing loss (NIHL). The campaign disseminates messages through print and digital materials, community-based events, school presentations, and other methods. The campaign launched in October 2008 as a follow up to the NIDCD's Wise Ears!® campaign, which increased awareness about preventing NIHL among workers, employers, and Americans of all ages from 1999 to 2008. The CDC’s National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) has actively collaborated with the NIDCD for both campaigns, and in November 2013 cosponsored a Twitter chat on prevention of noise-induced hearing loss.
