Title of Collaborative Activity:

OSTP Interagency Working Group on Medical Imaging

Description of Collaborative Activity:

The Interagency Working Group on Medical Imaging (IWMI) is co-chaired by the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) and is working to identify gaps and develop a roadmap to accelerate technology development that is more effective, improves patient care, and has the potential to lower cost. The working group, which includes twelve federal agencies, has determined key strategic directions through a series of stakeholder meetings. Areas identified as important for joint focus include deep/machine learning, quantitative and high-value imaging, and inter-agency collaboration to accelerate translation. The working group released its final report on December 22, 2017. The charter for this working group was not renewed in 2018.
