About These Data
The award counts shown on this site refer to the number of unique projects funded. Noncompeting supplements to ongoing projects are not included in the award counts (and, as a result, the award counts may not match the number of records displayed on the Data tab, where noncompeting supplements are listed separately). In contrast, competing supplements (revisions) are included in the award counts because these supplements support new projects or expansions of existing projects beyond their original scope. The costs of both types of supplements are included in the funding amounts.
